Out Like A Lamb

Yes, another update. Shock.

A final bit of March to report on [so far v. little birdy in April, anyway].

Speckled Wood
Now out

The last day was Mothers' Day, and the weather was a bit naughty, with a nagging easterly wind making finding a good picnic spot difficult.
Before that, it was all sunshine and so on, and the Patch got Bashed a bit.

Best bird evaded the camera; first Willow Warbler of the year actively feeding in the Top Dell on Saturday. In fact, things got a bit annoying, so I resorted to zapping the bees and flies on the masses of Alexander along IMD. IDs would require me to have more books, so just look at the pictures and assume they're very common!

Hoverfly

Different hoverfly

Possibly the same sp. as above

Bee sp.

Possibly different Bee sp.
[no grey posterior]

Fly sp.

Same as second Bee sp.

Much browner Bee sp.
[I think this is a Honey Bee proper.]

Also in front of the lens;

Point-blank Buzzard

That's not moult in those secondaries.!!

Battered Buzzard!

Speaking of.. Three migrant Buzzards came over [I think they were in/off but can't be certain] Saturday and got a 'warm' welcome from the local pair. Two of them are up there, note what looks like a 'continental moult centre'* on one and the other a nice 'red tailed Buzzard' .

They actually came quite close

More typical distance

Closer to..

Both pairs of Blackbirds are clinging on
 and munching fat..

..Before leaving with soaked mealworms

FF people! :D

One wing going hard to stay upright!

Getting on to Sunday, a couple of pics from the Moor's fringe;

Wood Sorrel

Greater Periwinkle

Keeping Devon Tidy
;)

Another awful shot

Slightly better.

Ahem.

So, aside from a week's work with no migrant flyover birds at lunch - though Nuthatch and GSW have been vocal about the car park - and nothing new at home [H Sparrows still present, so 'hmm, could be'] and being too busy to do anything post-work [drat] aside from finally almost catching up with this and also finishing uploading my Tawny Owl records. Yes, I have been keeping an ear out [there's been a survey on, if you didn't know]; inevitably, the local lot cottoned on and were a lot more bashful while I was doing timed listens. The weather hasn't been helping either. But hey ho, that's proper science; the data is never nice, it just is.

So, I shall

Be Seeing You....

[[*As in 'applied by shotgun'..... :( ]]
