Two Days At The Nose, Pt. 2

In which we have all the stuff I cut out of part one.

Wow.

We shall see lots of horrid gulls, some vile behaviour, and a tasty looking lunch!

Also a mystery and some pretty scenery.

Tempted?

Read on...

So we shall proceed with all the sunny stuff from that Saturday.

Interesting sky
[yes, up in a previous post, but important for context of the next one]

Oh what a beautiful morning, and so on*

Other things on the water; yachts are for when you can't photo birds!

The 'Belle Bessie'

Name hidden by dinghy
[Nice yacht, well handled]

Small facility container ship,
couldn't make out the name..!
[briefly visible twice]

The bad...

Straining at the plough.
BM482 vs the sea bed...

No camping

No littering

No dumping bleeping chemicals in the sea

The ugly!

"I'm a resident breeder, too, you know"

The sad dregs of Rockit Lake
[It's a lake if you're Rock Pipit-sized.
Well, it was..]

The hungry!
"Om-nom-nom-nom"
Grey Seal

Who needs humans? That Grey Seal; perfectly capable when the semi-evolved monkeys are too wimpy to fish for him...! Lovely looking flatfish there and much bigger than the assorted anglers' usual catches.

Ok, we need some larids.. Heh heh

Herring Gull
Nice moult in primaries, there

Black-headed Gull
Ditto!

Juvenile group
Now, I think one's a Med...??

Very pretty

Reasonable upper wing view

Not bad underwing, either

Different Med
Also note rather full crop
[I hate to think with what..]

Yes, yes, I'm skipping around - not everybody is interested in technical details of exactly which flavour of 'gull' we're looking at - and not stopping, either.

As well as the primaries,
I love the 'Grey-headed Gull' effect
you get in post-breeding BHG

Juvenile BHG
That pied leading edge :)

They call them 'Black-headed'..

Another Med for primary comparison
[yes, but that's the best under primary shot I could get]

Time for gulls on the deck

"I'm a Spoonbill!"

Ok, not the perfect angle, but still

As we're playing ID games..
Classic Arctic Skua pose!

I knew I had another skua shot around somewhere..

Wait, is that it? Almost - here's one from Saturday;

Whaddya mean 'Huh?!?'
It's obviously a Kittiwake.

Be Seeing You...

[[*Spot the UFO. Not a joke.]]
