Patched [-Up] Post

Delays, delays, delays, but what's new?

Not one but two first-thing visits to the Nose to report. Yes, this includes on a work morning, as I am mad, crazy, and possibly even insane.

But it just looked too good, so why not?

Well, it tipping down one morning would be one reason, but as the birds were far better than I expected, it would have been a false reason.

But I'm going too fast.

Friday was a morning of mistyfog, with Berry Head barely visible as a shadow in the gloom. [And of interest, not a single sign of any feeding - frenzied or otherwise - anythings in what could be seen of the Bay, with merely a few passing Gannets and ~10 C Scoter to be seen]

Rather atmospheric

Skin calm

Long-tails much in evidence

"Migrants? Lemme at 'em, I'll splat 'em!"

Hoary Ragwort

Yes, all very nice, but where's the fun? Well, despite the seemingly good conditions, it was a bit quiet below, with only 3 Chiffs to be found. Above, parties of Siskin, Linnet, and Chaffinch were among the Mipits and alba Wagtails [latter outnumbering former 2:1], also 2 Grey Wagtails.

Little more breeze

The North Wind doth blow

Hanging in the air

Still with the Long-tails

Despite the rain, the birds were there! Four good-sized tit bands included 'The one with 8 Chiffchaffs', 'The one with 4 Chiffchaffs and a 1w male Blackcap', and 'The one with all the Blue Tits'..! A point-blank pop up Lesser Whitethroat was star bird - its white outer tail feathers making me double-take, but not at all sandy, so drat - but the Chiffs won the day as most numerous species; beating the flyover alba Wagtails and Mipits put together. [Ok, the rain might have dampened the flyovers, but there were still lots of Chiffchaffs - at least for this year]. Three low-flying Grey Wagtails were also noteworthy.

And now....

Snails!

You were expecting awful gull shots? Not this time!

:)

Closer to Home;

"Oi! Monkey! Top the water up!"

Demanding little so and so's, Greenfinches.

;)

And finally;

Sunday sunrise

Who needs sunsets, eh?

But what was I doing up at such an unnatural hour on a Sunday?!? All shall be revealed.

Be Seeing You...
