Out and about in the glorious countryside of Glorious Devon. Heathland and farmland and so on.
Let's open with a feature of the former;
Golden-ringed Dragonfly
Isn't she gorgeous?
I was sat skywatching on a heathy hillside - as you do [3 spp. raptors but no kites, btw] - and up she came and plonked down so close I could hardly zoom in on her.!
:D
Heathy bits;
I can't help wistfully
thinking of shrikes..
Crossbill
Tree Pipit
Nightjar
[feather thereof]
"Grrrrrr!!"
Small Heath
Tigers usually fly away from you just as you get close enough for a decent pic, but this one looked like it wanted to have a go.. [Eeek!]
Small Heaths are now everywhere up and grassy, so definitely Summer!
A little lower down, and you get stuff like this;
Meadow, au natural
Meadow, mown
Yellowhammer
Gypsy Cuckoo Bee
At the bottom of same hedge.
Didn't cover any new ground, I was just enjoying being out birding* [and insecting, planting..] in the Great Outdoors.
:)
Be Seeing You...
[[* Ok, a Little Owl or Turtle Dove would have been nice, I admit.....]]
