After a long weather and Covid -imposed break, I was able to go out for a toddle with the Folks of the weekend.
Why the title?
Well, going out with the Folks includes a certain Little Black Dog of theirs. She's an elderly thing now, and perhaps more a Salt And Pepper Pog, but for once she stayed still long enough to get a close up pic or two and well, everyone knows cute animals are internet crack...
o;)
Little Black Dog
"Feed the dog..?"
[[Notes. 1) She is actually looking at the shortbread in my other hand. 2) She is also on her lead {we being responsible}. 3) Yes, that's a mat for her poor aged paws on the nasty hard stones.. Ahem. ]]
The weather was still a little sultry for normal people*, but it was all rather nice. We found a quiet spot by Teign for lunch and the locals came by to wonderfully ignore us...
Dipper!
Foraging
And upstream from us, too...
Gorgeous
:D
Though the level of the river itself was lower than any of us have ever seen - getting no proper rain for months does that, even to Dartmoor.. - there were still a few fish in evidence, with small Brown Trout jumping at flies frequently,
Trout in Teign
[maybe 20cm long, those]
Common Hawkers were also passing frequently, but far less co-operative to the camera.
Silver-washed Fritillaries were, well, semi-helpful;
Female
Male
Light and angle
Robin
Gatekeeper
Great Pied Hoverfly
Yellow Pimpernel
Nothing too strenuous, but it wasn't the weather for it.
Speaking of, some nice rain wouldn't go amiss.
Say a big frontal system.. or six?
Please?
Pretty please??
Be Seeing You...
[[* Usual caveats concerning 'given definition of normal'... ;) ]]
