You quite often these days see put up online clear, sharp, well-taken photos described as record shots. This is one of those things that really gets my goat [and frequently other livestock, too - makes the local wolves feel quite inadequate, I can tell you], as it takes either the ability to comprehend basic ideas or false modesty to frankly worrying levels.
For those of you wondering what I'm blathering on about, a record shot is a photo which shows that the bird [or whatever] is what it is but no more. It is not pretty, it is not well-composed, it is hardly ever in proper focus. It is often hugely cropped and grainier than a bag of demerara sugar. It is proof, nothing more.
Observe. Regardez.
