Post About The Patch

Because it's not been [that] neglected.

This may involve some pictures that are almost pretty. Be duly warned.

I have been mostly concerned with those dual trials of vismigging and bush-bashing, as you might expect, it being this time of the year and so on.

There has been much of what you'd expect [compare to Beer and Berry, while reducing numbers drastically], with the odd surprise and an occasional bout of bin-gnawing frustration.. So, what are you going to get on here?

Hmm...

Why is this photo funny?

Because of THIS photo.

Prepping for the Glorious Leader's parade?
;)

Ahem.

Honey Bee

Not a Honey Bee!

Yes, time to bug you with insect shots.
[No, it won't stop. Neither will the photos]

A few Red Admirals still going

Also Painted Ladies

Moth sp.

Lucilia sp.

Chrysotoxum sp.

Male Southern Hawker
[Honest. It flew right up to me.]

Yes, yes, that's bat-level awful, but a dragonfly on Patch and even registering on camera?

Still regular to the sunflower seeds

Very atmospheric at the Nose

Vismigging view!
[Itsa Yellow Wag, btw]

Speaking of migrants, while numbers have fluctuated [as you might expect] it has upon times been that pulses of especially Chiffs have been left scattered amongst the bushes. Now and again, there comes a very special Chiff; zap!

Chiff

Chaff

Chiff

Chaff

26 Chiffchaffs; 6 singing, 2 Willow Warblers, 5 Blackcaps; 1 singing
Over head, a couple of Yellow Wags, a scattering of alba Wags, and a fair few Mipits, plus a GSW, Swallows, House Martins, and a large number of [quite probably local] Goldfinches.
At sea, a group of 3 Manxies passing in sunshine.
Eyes down;
Birdsfoot Trefoil

Wild Basil

Ragwort

Prickly Lettuce

Agrimony

Upright Hedge Parsley

Corky-fruited Water Dropwort

Ooh, what's that?

Chorus: "It's always a Chiffchaff!"

Wild Thyme

Thyme to go. Oh dear.

Posting shall resume with a trip out in the damp, once I've finally found everything in Phillips!

Be Seeing You...
