Patch Gubbins. Pt.1, Good Birds Badly Photographed

In the traditionally dead high Summer season - when normally the only excitement is when you get some decent* weather and can seawatch - the definition of good is slightly different.

Getting a couple of immature birds summering off the Nose that'd normally not raise much interest [ok maybe a bit] in colder times thus attracts posting.

The fact they're very naughty and stay annoyingly offshore and usually upSun as well means you're not getting anything threatening the Usual PhotoSuspects' reign over Devon Birds and the DBR.. [[Not that I'm ever likely to...!]]

Anyways, get a load of these;

Ok, this is a bit Arty

Eider, male, 2cy, rather retarded**, striking a pose on the Lead Stone.

No, that's not a Shag.

Or a Cormorant.

Let's see it on the deck..

That's a white collar you can see.

On account of it being a subadult GND.

No, really, it is.

[Told you they were bad...]

A slightly better Eider,
still upSun though..

Razorbills on the Ore Stone
[Digiscoping that sort of works..?!?]

Two of those lower four seem a bit, well, small, don't they?

[["But Razorbills don't breed here!"]]

Ahem.

Like it says on the tin,

Good birds [for here], badly photo'd.

Be Seeing You...

[[* Definitions may vary]]
[[** I'm talking plumage, btw. First Summer male Eider should be very black and white by now, he's brown and white..?!? ]]
