Dashing About

What happened last weekend... Chasing up yearticks because what else is there to do??

So, a quick raid towards the East in a respite from the howling gales. Also a morning look for bobbins.

To begin..

I seized an afternoon's weather lacking wind [sort of] and even sunny [allegedly] to try for dartford Warblers at That Place Where They're Advertised To All And Sundry.

No, not a bad crop.. Umbrella!

This after I arrived to sunshine and the heartening sound of a scratchy little warble, too.. :(

Still, after a mere 45 minutes or so the sun came back.

Better!

The Dartfords, however, felt otherwise. So no pictures or anything. Hmm.

Moving on across space and time to my next yeartick hunt...

Slightly drier

Matford looked more like itself and less like a lake.

Not a sniff of a Green Sand, though.

Instead, here are some Cormorants for you;

Out on a limb

Feeling bashful

Taking a dip

There's an observation about gular angles there.

So, a swing and a miss, but on my way home I stopped off at Ideford Common, where some Siskin showed nicely, waaaay up some of the few surviving Larches hereabouts

Ideford Larches

Siskin

Always a pleasure.  :)

Still to come, we have an actual amble with the Folks! In which unknowing hubris is revealed for your amusement. Also, what's been going on on the Patch, and, yes, you knew it had been a while, lots of awful pictures of common [and maybe even Common] gulls... Shudder.

Be Seeing You...
