Slightly defying the weather, at last I got out with the Folks. We ambled about Fernworthy - those of you who were expecting this can go 'Ha ha!' now - and it was rather nice. Out of the wind, anyway.
This wasn't a proper day, rather an extended afternoon with a coffee and flapjack break [ :) ], to gradually work back up to proper days out. [This being for all concerned, btw..!]
It was, with the overcast and stiff wind, not very full of life. There were birds, but much more heard than seen. The Crossbills in particular were feeling very naughty and teased dreadfully; lots of calling and flying about but no posing, the little blighters!
Assycombe
Of note in the plantation, the wind combined with felling had led to a few casualties amongst the poor conifers, but also there were downed and indeed snapped trees where no blast of wind should reach..
There really is only one conclusion;
"Troll!!"
{It's just out of shot*}
Guest appearence by the Folks and a certain Little Black Dog!
[Those trees were snapped off 15'-20' up by a force that came out of the forested area.. You know I'm right.]
So cute
The only poser in Fernworthy
Had to have a bird.
Laugh? I coulda died..
;D
Time was pressing and so we didn't go down to the res, [told you you'd laugh]. Perhaps this was for the best, as returning to the car, we found that one of the potholes of doooom had done its worst and Dad had to demonstrate why he was right to insist on a spare tyre when he got his car [those repair kits are BLEEEP]** Best we had plenty of light for that..
Aside from the surprise ending, it was a good afternoon.
Be Seeing You...
[[*Why not IN shot? Simple; Trolls are like Bugblatter Beasts; if you don't see them, they think they can't see you.!***]]
[[**I was still very broken and unable to even think too hard about heavy lifting. Though whether I would have been allowed near is debatable.]]
[[***Don't worry about the Folks; trolls are mortally afeared of Little Black Dogs, and Tilly saw this one off in short order! :D ]]
