Counting Trees

Was the euphemism for something very different, but there are lots of tree at Fernworthy. Maybe someone has counted them without using overheads and an algorithm, but I doubt it.

Anyways...
Twas another Sunday amble with the Folks and we exploited the cover from the toothsome Easterly that lots of lovely conifers provided to enjoy the sunshine.

We weren't alone in that, as the tried and tested tactic of sitting about doing not very much gave us wonderful views of not only Redstarts [plural!] but Mistle Thrushes [plural] getting all territorial - there was beakicuffs and everything! - as well as a whole load of displaying-and-very-hard-to-photo Siskin.

We didn't go far [less than half the distance I'd done last outing, even] but we got outside the compound onto the very dry 'isn't this winter??' Moor and aside from a patch of very naughty gravel it all went swimmingly [or not, the water a bit cold even for Tilbury..]

Redstart!
With bling
[again unreadable..]

Redstart
[no bling]

These two photo'd maybe 100m apart; at the time we thought they were the same bird.

Mistle Thrush
Confiding!

Siskin
[Less confiding...]

Willow Warbler
[singing!]

Grey Wethers

Showing up nicely against the utter lack of new growth...

It was all very nice and so on. :)
