Patch Grinding

No, not like that.

What's the land equivalent of a Brown Booby? Hmm, well you won't find it - whatever it is - if you don't keep looking.

Of course, 999999 times out of 1000000 you find bugger all.

Yeah, fascinating post coming up.

Well, mostly.

Best sighting;
Another Portland Ribbon Wave!

That one was teeny small.

So, nothing spectacular on Patch recently to report; regular spp. moving through and the odd 'ooh, what's that??" but no bothering of reporting services. Oh well, what can you do?

A few pics of this and that;

But no more moths, another moff post will be coming. [There will be the odd half decent one]

The inevitable Herring Gull
[showing off primary patterns]

Rose Hips

Chiffchaff

Blackcap

Small White

Lichens!

Another Small White

Not a Honey Buzzard

Honeybee mimic Hoverfly sp.

Grey Wagtail

Kingfisher

Gadwall

Ok, I may have technically wandered slightly out of bounds there... ;)

Turnstone, mostly s/pl

Turnstone, with bling

Nice mix of spp. there!

Fun gull for you!
Thought this was a female GBB until it stood up... So, humungus LBB [painted like the dark one that must not be named], or yellowish-legged GBB lacking white in the primaries [though with a nice big crescent]???

EDIT: Well, it seems 'yellow-legged' GBBs do turn up now and again. One more recently in south Wales, another once on Portland. Makes you wonder about gene flow, and the whole gull complex issues, doesn't it?

Fun and games, people.  :)

Be Seeing You...

[[Yes, there is Option 3, but come on, this is me. I don't find good things.]]
