Here And There, Pt. 2

Following on from the last post, I went for a wander up on t'Moor with the Folks.

This was in despite of the clouds and cold north wind, which made it feel far more like winter than the end of April...

Things started quite well, with my first Cuckoo of the year at Cator Common en route to our site, Bellever.

Arriving, we found a horde of Alsatians in the car park. Maybe only about 12 - though it seemed like more - but that's plenty when they're running around loose! Fortunately they went down to the river, so we happily went on towa- oh wait, they've closed half the compound. Nice. Very nice.

Change of plan and a long detour ensued, but we eventually got to our target, Laughter Tor. I like Laughter Tor, and the Folks, who hadn't been there for a fair while, liked it too. Even the LBD enjoyed herself; well, when a bunny went trotting past us while we were trying to have a nice quiet lunch, she got very excited indeed... Fortunately, the DCD* worked as intended, so while pursued accelerated away at the typical rate of knots, pursuer was brought up short. Poor thing.

I probably shouldn't think of this stone as The Joker

Hee Hee Hee
Ho Ho Ho
Ha Ha Ha

Ahem.

Getting to the important stuff, ie. birds, the usual suspects were present in what of the woods we could access, though fewer Willow Warblers than on Patch [amazing!]. Up and out, the odd Skylark and plenty of these;

See a bird on a rock

Or a wall

Or in a tree

It's always a Mipit.

No, it is.

No other birds exist.

;)

After a not entirely noise-free lunch

"They're a bit low..."

"..Bleeeping bleep, they're low!"

Presumably with proper permits. I hope.

We ambled over to Bellever Tor itself, then found an official detour back,

Of note on our travels was this little thing;

Perennial Centuary

With the weather threatening rain, we removed to a more secure viewpoint to take afternoonses [how very civilised, what]. Only one soaring non-Buzzard - very far but probably a Raven. Oh well, never mind, eh? Still things to look at

Near

Far

Not a vast distance, but still a nice trip. Hopefully things will dry out a bit [though not too much] and we can do some more meandering.

I for one will be up at 'Far' up there soon, oh yes.. :D

Be Seeing You...
