Out In The Sunshine.

With the T10 messing about all over the Moor, the Folks and I deemed it an idea to be somewhere else for our little meander last weekend.

With sunshine and light winds forecast, we started down at Soar, and had a wander about Bolt Head way. There was a lot more cloud and even more wind than forecast, but it was still lovely. The fact the shower picked Prawle to rain on was a pleasant surprise as well :)

Cue a few pics;

Up on The Bolt

It's quite scenic

Looking towards Prawle
[disappointed shower exiting, stage right]

There were a few singing birds around, with Swallows possibly and Swifts definitely passing through in a constant trickle.

Perfect ID shot.

Better with sound, I admit

Cruising

Whitethroat!

They were all over
This one of 12 singing males

Not just under trees, you know

The new
Little Nelly?

And because you can't not..

Love that moult
Heh heh

With time in hand, we decided to move elsewhere for afternoon coffee, and so we went somewhere we've not been to for.. well, it's pre-blog!

Where?

Here.

Blackdown Rings

Between the ramparts-
Bluebells!

Yes, another hill fort. One with a view that defies photography, see?

We were over there this morning..
You see?
That teeny bit there?

Closer to, were the odd bird feeling showy;

"No, I'm not"

"Got any sammiches?"

Also of note,

Cuckoo Flower

There was, however, a noticeable dearth of soaring birds of any flavour - I eventually found a lone Buzzard - though the passing Swifts [all too fast to catch on record, alas] and that wonderful Yellowhammer up there did make up for that a bit.

Ok, I was really hoping to be able to show the Folks a ruddy dot and say "That's a Red Kite, that is!"

But never mind, it was still lovely.

Be Seeing You...
